I was just notified that due to recent legislation effective on Jan. 1st any time worked by our in home caregivers over 9 hours will be subject to overtime resulting in substantial increase in the money we pay. We use a national company to provide us with 24 hour care by 1 person for 5 days a week and also a 12 and 10 hour shift. I do 2 the remaining hours on both short day shifts. We also now are the "employer" instead of the company that used to provide us with the service. As such we are now responsible for taxes, workmen's comp insurance and other possible fees or taxes. Anyone else dealing with this?
