I am new to this forum. For the past 16 years I have cared for my mother, she has severe rheumatoid arthritis along with severe chorea and dementia. I have 9 siblings but it has been me that has taken on the caregiving, I guess my siblings think I am in the medical field so I should be the one to do so. Don’t misunderstand me I love taking care of my mother, but I work 10 hours a day and on my lunch break I stop in to check on her as well as after work. Just recently one of my brothers moved in with her, but he is not much help and wants to be paid for being there. I disagree with him this is his mother as well and he should help take care of her without having to be paid. I’ve done it all this time and never asked for compensation. The rest of the siblings all live scattered throughout the states and say they have their own lives to deal with. I am debating whether or not to continue working because as the dementia worsens my mother is going to need more care.
