Hi all! Caring for my Mom with Parkinson's.

Hi all,

My name is Brian and I am caring for my 72 yr old mother who has autoimmune and lung problems coupled with Parkinson's Disease, which is progressing very fast as of late.

It's incredibly scary and devastating to watch her lose more and more of her ability to walk, speak, and care for herself. On top of this, my dog is quite old and is not doing too well either. I'm afraid she'll pass away soon.

I am so emotionally drained and have a perpetual feeling of dread, fear, and sadness in the pit of my stomach. I don't want her to lose her independence and to be in so much pain and discomfort. I know I need to let go and just be as present as possible but it is very difficult not to get caught up in the day to day reminders of how bad this is.

I am trying to help her as best as possible but I feel like I'm failing. She goes to PT 2x/week but she's so weak and tired all the time that she is barely able to do anything during the appointments and she has little energy and no motivation to do any of the exercises on her own at home. I just see her decline, decline, decline and I feel utterly powerless.

Hoping this community will help.
