Hi, what direction do I go now?

im feeling a bit lost.

iHello everyone,

it's nice to meet you.  I don't know if this is the right place to share or perhaps get advice on which forum to share in, but I am a caregiver for my husband since 2004.  He suffered from cognitive impairment from toxic chemical exposure and I believe is now suffering the early signs of dementia.  Recently he's been repeating himself when reminding me to tell his doctors about things...while at the doctors office which I thought was very very odd and new?  Does anyone else go through this?

I'm feeling a bit lost at this point...

Thanks so much:)

Hi, Stuck!

Hi, Stuck!

My name is Nichole and I am the Program Coordinator for Caregiver Action Network. I wanted to thank you for reaching out and sharing a bit of your story.

You mentioned the recent development of your husband repeating himself. It is important to share any information about new or changing symptoms with your husband's doctors, and keep monitoring for further changes. I know when I have had these kind of conversations with doctors, they have followed up asking if there had been any dietary, lifestyle, or environmental changes - new medications, recent move, new diet, etc. - occurring about the time you noticed this symptom development or change. This is to help them rule out any of those factors as perhaps being a case, so it might be helpful to anticipate that (if you're not already).  CAN has both the Medication Checklist and Patient File Checklist in the online Toolbox, which may be helpful in getting all of the info together.

Thank you again for reaching out. Please continue to post to engage with others and share updates!
