Hi I'm new here, I'm still in limbo with what is going on in my life but my mom ended up having surgery on June 25th, they found several clots in her arteries, and her leg was compromised, she has been in and out of the hospital and care facility, she can't even stand on her leg yet.

I dont really know what I'm looking for, my brain is still in frenzy mode, I guess I'm looking for any suggestions on swtiching her to medicaid disability for the clots and her diabetes and probably drop foot or possibly an amputation if things don't turn for the better.

I'm looking for help on how to make my house handicap abled with no money, possibly grants or where to turn for help.

I'm also looking for help wtih how to help my children deal with everything tis been a month and my mom has lived with me  and my family since 2016 when my dad passed away and I can tell its really afecting my kids, i try to facetime her alot and reassure them she will come home, but they get discouraged when i have to drop everything and run to the ER again, because of complications. I'm pretty sure I am  making no sense what so ever. I guess I just really need a community who is living the same life to help or talk to.

Thanks for listening

Marsha

Hi, Marsha -

Hi, Marsha -

Thank you for posting and sharing your experience. It can be difficult sharing but I am sure other caregivers will see your post and connect with it, as it may be similar to what they are experiencing as well.

In regards to resources you're looking for, I'd reach out to our Caregiver Help Desk. They might be able to identify some local organizations or programs that can assist with making the home more accessible. You can call them at 855-227-3640 and reach someone live Monday-Friday from 8:00AM to 7:00PM Eastern time (you'll be able to leave a voicemail during off-hours). You can also chat with them during that time by hitting the "Chat" button, or e-mail them at any time by clicking the "E-Mail" button.

I hope this has been helpful to you!
