My mother thinks her son has depression

Hello all,

My family has a history of depression. My mother lost her brother when he was 32. He ended his life in a small motel room on a road trip to LA. I have a brother who is 18 years old now. According to my mother, he has the similar symptoms of depression my uncle used to have at his age. So, my mother is totally worried. She thinks, her son will commit the same mistake her brother did. I don't know how to convince her that her son is alright. She wants to take him for family therapy here in Toronto ( https://www.neuropotentialclinics.com/family-therapy/). But, I don't think that will be necessary. She is right that he spends most of the time inside his room. But, that doesn't mean he has no friends or not like to go out. He is very active in school and when he is out with his friends. And, I don't know what he will think if my mother asks him to come for family therapy. I am really worried about my mother and brother. I don't know what to do in a situation like this. Can someone please tell me what you would do if you were in my place?
