WASHINGTON, DC – Caregiver Action Network announced its selection to participate in Capital Group’s Community Wealth Council, a fellowship program designed to increase access to financial education and resources. This prestigious 2-year fellowship brings together nonprofit leaders, financial services professionals, and community voices to explore and develop new approaches to financial education that are grounded in trust, practical relevance, and real-world experience.
Paola Zambrana, Director of Engagement & Project Management at Caregiver Action Network and one of the Community Wealth Council fellows, said, “Forty-six percent of calls to our national hotline, one of the largest in the U.S., are related to finances. We see a real need for more programs dedicated to financial support for caregivers — this is exactly the kind of program we need more of. When the opportunity came up to join Capital Group’s Community Wealth Council, I said, ‘Absolutely, I need to bring a program to our organization that empowers caregivers!’”
The Community Wealth Council was launched by Capital Group in response to extensive research and feedback from nonprofit organizations, revealing a critical need for financial education that reflects the unique challenges of different communities and is emotionally resonant. The fellowship reflects Capital Group’s mission to improve lives through successful investing and its long-standing commitment to philanthropy and charitable giving.
“Education is one of the best ways to get at the real problems facing those without financial stability. Our goal is to help create community programs that improve access to financial resources, build trust in the financial services industry, and promote financial education to empower people,” said Alexis Rosenblum, global head of sustainability and social responsibility at Capital Group.
The fellowship includes interactive sessions with experts, mentoring from financial advisors and nonprofit leaders, and a capstone project to develop/enhance our financial education program(s).
