Burnout Prevention & Encouraging Self‑Care

Hispanic caregivers are at heightened risk of burnout due to a combination of cultural expectations, systemic and financial barriers, and a lack of access to formal support. These factors often lead to higher-intensity caregiving responsibilities and increased strain compared to non-Hispanic caregivers.

Self-care is crucial for leukemia caregivers to prevent burnout, maintain physical and mental health, and sustain their ability to provide compassionate care for their loved one.

Caregiving is emotionally and physically exhausting, and consistent self-care can ease symptoms of depression, anxiety, irritability, and loneliness that often come with caregiving.

Self-care is essential, not indulgent.

By taking care of yourself and saving your energy whenever and however possible, you will be better able to provide compassionate and effective support for your loved one.
