Caregiver Action Network Welcomes Dr. Neetu Abad to Board of Directors
Caregiver Action Network (CAN), the nation’s leading nonprofit organization supporting family caregivers, is pleased to announce the appointment of Neetu Abad to its Board of Directors.
Dr. Abad serves as Director of the Rosalynn Carter Mental Health & Caregiving Program at The Carter Center, where she leads national efforts to advance mental health and caregiving through research, partnerships, and policy. With more than 16 years of experience in behavioral health and public health, she has dedicated her career to developing evidence-based strategies that improve health outcomes and strengthen support for individuals, families, and caregivers.
A recognized leader in behavioral health, Dr. Abad has designed, implemented, and evaluated behavior change and behavioral health initiatives across diverse settings. She has also led strategic planning efforts that integrate social science and behavioral health into public health research, programs, and policy, helping organizations develop more effective, person-centered approaches to improving health and well-being.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Abad to the Caregiver Action Network Board of Directors,” said Dawn Shedrick, CAN Board Chair. “The intersection of mental health and caregiving has never been more important. Neetu’s expertise in behavioral science, public health, and caregiver support will be an invaluable asset as CAN continues to expand its impact and advocate for family caregivers nationwide.”
“It is an honor to join the Caregiver Action Network Board of Directors,” said Dr. Abad. “Caregivers are the backbone of our health care system, yet too often they shoulder enormous responsibilities without adequate support. I look forward to working alongside my fellow board members and CAN’s leadership to advance innovative solutions, strengthen resources, and elevate the voices of family caregivers across the country.”
As a member of the Board of Directors, she will help guide the organization’s strategic direction, bringing expertise in behavioral health, caregiving, public health, and evidence-informed program development to support CAN’s mission of improving the lives of family caregivers.
For more than 30 years, Caregiver Action Network has served as a trusted national resource for family caregivers, providing education, peer support, advocacy, and resources to help caregivers navigate the challenges of caring for loved ones.
