Supporting Caregivers of Veterans with Bladder Cancer

Supporting Caregivers of Veterans with Bladder Cancer

Supporting Caregivers of Veterans with Bladder Cancer

This guide is for spouses/partners, adult children, friends, and other unpaid caregivers supporting a Veteran or military-affiliated loved one with bladder cancer.

It is especially useful when care is coordinated through VA health care, where the VA Caregiver Support Program offers education, coaching, peer support mentoring, and referrals for caregivers. Caregiver Support Teams are also available to help caregivers find the support they need and enroll in appropriate caregiver programs and services.

Cancer caregiving can be emotionally and physically demanding, and many caregivers put their own needs aside. This guide recognizes your lived experience and encourages you to protect your own health and well-being, because caring for yourself helps you continue caring for others.
