WASHINGTON, DC — Caregiver Action Network has released a new, free resource to support working family caregivers of individuals living with leukemia. Titled “Leukemia Caregiver Guide: Support for Working Family Caregivers,” this guide provides practical strategies to help caregivers balance the urgent demands of leukemia treatment with the responsibilities of employment.

“Working caregivers face an impossible choice: their job or their loved one’s health,” said Marvell Adams Jr., CEO of Caregiver Action Network. “This guide gives families the knowledge and strategies they need to manage both — without sacrificing their financial security or their loved one’s care.”

According to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, 62% of caregivers for a loved one with cancer, including leukemia, are employed, and 83% report at least one negative effect on work or productivity.

The guide includes:

  • Guidance on Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), flexible schedules and workplace conversations
  • Strategies for managing complex treatment regimens
  • Culturally relevant support for Hispanic and Latinx caregivers
  • Mental health resources and burnout prevention
  • Real caregiver stories and expert advice

The guide is available now at: https://www.caregiveraction.org/leukemia-caregiver-guide
