As America Heads to the Polls, Caregiver Action Network (CAN) Spotlights What Unites Us This National Family Caregivers Month

CAN’s Care Connects Us campaign unites influential voices, personal caregiving stories and nationwide recognition this National Family Caregivers Month.

WASHINGTON, D.C., November 2, 2026 | As Americans prepare to head to the polls, Caregiver Action Network (CAN) is drawing attention to an experience that reaches across political divides, generations and communities: caring for – or receiving care from – someone we love.

Through Care Connects Us, its 2026 National Family Caregivers Month campaign, CAN is celebrating the bonds that unite caregivers while bringing their stories, challenges and inspiring contributions into the national spotlight.

Having led the observance since 1997, CAN is marking nearly three decades of advocacy with a new conversation series featuring influential public figures, a nationwide media campaign and seven Voices of Care honorees. The campaign comes as estimates suggest that as many as 100 million Americans provide unpaid care – a number that remains difficult to pin down because many people manage appointments, medications and daily needs for loved ones without ever identifying as caregivers.

“At a moment when so much attention is focused on our differences, caregiving reminds us of something we all share,” said Marvell Adams Jr., CEO of Caregiver Action Network. “Whether or not we call ourselves caregivers, the ways we show up for the people we love connect us. For nearly 30 years, CAN has worked to ensure those contributions are seen, valued, and supported throughout November and all year-round.”

A new conversation series brings familiar faces and caregiver voices together

Debuting this November, Care in Context: The Official Conversation Series of Caregiver Action Network brings inspirational public figures together with nonprofit leaders for candid conversations about the realities of care. Hosted by Adams, the first season features Bellamy Young, Atsuko Okatsuka, Ashley Williams, Richard Lui and Lauren Sisler, alongside voices from The Carter Center, Caring Across Generations, Rural Minds and Hilarity for Charity. Through personal stories and practical insights, the series offers viewers both connection and encouragement, with new episodes released every Monday through November.

Seven Voices of Care honorees recognized

CAN is also honoring seven remarkable entertainers, storytellers, and advocates using their voices to elevate caregiving and inspire change with their annual Voice of Care award: Terry Crews, Fortune Feimster, Bellamy Young, Ashley Williams, Nikki DeLoach, Athena Dion, and Megan Falley. Their stories, creative work, and public platforms help shift perceptions, spark dialogue, and inspire action so caregivers are seen, supported, and valued across the country – we’re so grateful.

Taking the message to audiences nationwide

CAN launched a national media tour on October 26, when Adams spoke with television and radio outlets from a New York City studio securing nearly 30 bookings reaching thousands of families all across the country. Participating outlets included KDAF/CW33 in Dallas, KIAH/CW39 in Houston, WCNC in Charlotte, WPTF and WNCN/CBS17 in Raleigh, KRCW in Portland and KXTV/ABC10 in Sacramento. Additional broadcasts, including national distribution through Daily Flash, will carry the campaign into early November. See interview clip embedded below for reference; CAN leadership remains available for additional interviews upon request.

From shared experiences to meaningful support

Throughout the month, CAN will share caregiver stories, practical resources and virtual programs, including “In the Middle of It All: Work, Family & Caregiving” on November 3 and the “Caregiving Hill Briefing & Town Hall” on November 9. Caregivers, employers, families and community organizations can explore events and ways to participate at NFCMonth.org.

“National Family Caregivers Month is an opportunity not only to recognize what caregivers do, but to listen to what they need,” Adams said. “When we acknowledge the connections we share, we can turn that understanding into meaningful support.”
