Ability to Access Resources

Some see a significant difference due to racial prejudice regarding the ability to obtain resources for your child. It’s difficult at times to determine if you’re being treated differently—until you talk to non-Black parents.

Black Americans are more likely to lack health insurance compared to white people. Because of a lack of Black or African American healthcare providers, Black individuals face challenges in finding culturally competent care.

There is a need to empower families with the language and education to effectively communicate with healthcare providers.
